Connectivity
The unit can connect via Ethernet, WiFi, or 4G, and will automatically use whichever is available — see Failover behaviour below.
Ethernet
Plug a standard network cable into the Ethernet port. The unit picks up an address automatically (DHCP) and connects — no further setup needed. Ethernet is the unit's preferred connection whenever it's available.
WiFi
WiFi is 2.4GHz only
The unit's WiFi does not support 5GHz networks.
- Press and quickly release PAUSE (under 2 seconds). The screen switches to a WiFi setup screen showing an 8-digit password and the unit's device ID as the network name.
- On your phone or laptop, connect to that WiFi network using the shown password.
- Once connected, the unit's screen switches to a Webpage screen showing an address:
192.168.4.1. - Open that address in a browser and sign in using the same 8-digit code shown on screen.
- On the page that opens, select your WiFi network and enter its password, then save.
- Press PAUSE again (short press) to turn off the setup hotspot once you're done.
The unit uses WiFi only when Ethernet isn't connected.
4G / cellular
Fit a SIM card and attach the supplied antenna to the unit's antenna connector; the unit connects to the cellular network automatically — no APN or other settings need entering.
4G is used only when neither Ethernet nor WiFi is connected.
Failover behaviour
The unit continuously monitors all of its connections and always uses the best one available, in this order:
- Ethernet
- WiFi
- 4G
If the active connection drops, the unit switches to the next available one automatically — no action needed on your part. You can see which connection is currently in use from the cloud icon in the status bar (it's shown as whichever network icon — Ethernet, WiFi, or 4G — is currently carrying the connection); see The OLED Screen.
