First-time Setup

Powering on

Connect the unit to a 12VDC supply via the power terminals. On power-up, the OLED briefly shows "COPPELBOX BOOTING" with the firmware version, then moves to its home screen.

Wiring is for a qualified installer

Power should be fully disconnected before wiring, and installation carried out by a qualified electrician — see The Unit at a Glance.

Getting the unit online

Units ship already registered to the CoppelBox cloud, so a working unit boots straight to the relay screen (its home screen) — there's no provisioning step for you to do. Get it online using whichever connection you have available:

  • Ethernet — plug in a cable; it connects automatically.
  • WiFi — needs a short setup step; see Connectivity.
  • 4G — needs a SIM card and antenna fitted; see Connectivity.

If more than one connection is available, the unit automatically picks the best one — see Connectivity for the priority order.

Provisioning

Provisioning — registering the unit's identity with the CoppelBox cloud — happens at the factory before the unit ships, so there's nothing to do here. If the unit's Device Info screen shows PROVISION REQUIRED instead of booting to the relay screen, that means this factory step didn't complete — see Troubleshooting and contact support.

Confirming it appears in the dashboard

Once the unit is online, it reports its status to the cloud roughly every 20 seconds. Sign in to the CoppelBox dashboard and check the Fleet Dashboard — the unit should appear there shortly after connecting.

If it doesn't appear after a minute or so, see Troubleshooting.
